My List of Superfoods

After doing a lot of research and based on the fact that I am a lacto-vegan (vegan + dairy products) and my likings to certain ingredients, here is a pretty comprehensive list of superfoods that I shall strive my best to consume on a regular basis.

What are superfoods?

All foods contain some nutrients. However, some foods are thought to have such a high content of certain nutrients that they have extra health benefits, so much so that they are referred to as ‘superfoods’. Superfoods are not only high in vitamins and nutrients, but are also rich in flavonoids & antioxidants and thereby known to fight illness as well as aging.

 

My Aim:

1) To eat 2 portions of – either wholewheat or quinoa/ bulgur/ brown rice/ oats

2) One portion of any berries – fresh or dreid – blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, etc

3) One portion of soy in any form – tofu, soy milk, soybeans, soy based burger

4) One portion of vegetables a day – spinach in a smoothie, veggies in a bean burger, vegetables with quinoa/grains, etc

5) One small portion of yogut each day

6) One portion os seeds in any form – either in a homemade granola bar or multiseed bread

7) One portion of nuts each day – either in a granola bar or in cereal

Blueberries, Flaxseeds, Walnuts, Yogurt, Spinach, Carrots, Soy,Quinoa/Wholewheat, Baked Beans, Green or Yellow Lentils
